Hema Blush in Medium Review

Hema Blush in Medium Review

Hema is an 85-year-old store in Holland and is well known to deliver quality products at low prices. They have a bakery, home furniture, lifestyle section, even vintage bicycles are for sale, also there are clothes and sweets. So, it came as no surprise that they launched a new winter makeup line and that is when the bronzers go out and the sheer blushes comes in.

Hema Blush in Medium Review

I was searching for a nice pink blush for months and before I found the one I was looking for (H&M 18-Sweet Rose), I bought this one at Hema without a tester as they didn’t have any testers for this shade. This collection is for a limited time and there were 3 colors available, 01 Light, 02 Medium and 03 Dark.

Hema blush

I bought the shade 02 – Medium. It comes in a round pan with a simple sturdy case. Its is big and a very pretty texturized blush, pressed with little Hema words. I love blushes and they are for sure my favorite part of makeup.  I have one mascara only but some 15 blushes and still keep buying as I love the colors and the cases and they make anyone look prettier.

The SA explained that the shade 01 Light is more suitable for blondes and pale people with dark hair and I should go for 02 Medium and other 03 Dark would be more suitable. I did swatch shades 01 in the store and it was too light, I mean I couldn’t see any color, only some shimmer from it.  Also, they didn’t have a tester for 02, so I stuck with my gut and bought it anyway.  The 03 was a brownish color and I thought it was too dark. I had some Hema makeup before and never really thought much of it, but this blush is very fine and the texture is very silky.  I really got impressed with the quality as I with my prejudices had a formed opinion of it long before I had even opened the box.

Blush

My mistake because the quality was awesome and I loved it.  There was no ingredient list but the blush doesn’t feel chalky at all, also it didn’t break me out, nor seemed to block my pores. The shimmer continued for some hours, but the blush wears off in some time, its not long lasting.

Once at home, I took my powder brush and tried it on my face, and found it fairly sheer, which is good sometimes.  Depending on the mood, I prefer this blush over a livelier color . My blushes stays on my table and I don’t carry any makeup around, only lip balm in my bag, so I cannot inform if the blush gets crumbled or no, or if it breaks easily even though I am very clumsy, they haven’t broken yet.

The swatch is not very clear because the blush is exactly like my skin but with some illuminating particles.  It is a sheer pink with some very fine golden shimmer that doesn’t look like a normal blush at all, but I am satisfied because I do have lot of brighter blushes and this one balances out my collection.

If you like a little color, the good thing is that you can build the color on your cheeks until you achieve the desired look. This is a very inexpensive high-quality blush that I would buy again. It might put you off if you are very much into colors and pigment, but if you want just a flush or a highlighting, it works perfectly.

Never knew they had their own range of cosmetics. Nice review, Deb. I like the shade of the blusher. It seems like a perfectly subtle blush for those who are not into a very Kareena Kapoor type of look.
