I have lot of aloe vera plants growing in my garden and like everyone else, I am fully aware of the benefits of aloe vera, but peeling, scooping, and extracting the gel out of the plant is tedious for me. Also, the gel tastes really bitter….so I went ahead and bought a tub of aloe vera gel from Nature’s Essence to make things easier for me. Actually, I had gone to the beauty shop to buy Brihan’s aloe vera gel, but then the lady there showed me Nature’s gel saying she was getting positive feedback about Nature’s gel. Also, Brihan’s gel has a shelf life of 5 years, whereas Nature’s aloe gel has only 2 years shelf life. I don’t know on what rational formula I made the decision, but I picked up Nature’s gel. Let’s see how it fared:

What the Label Claims

Aloe vera is a world renowned plant for its cosmetic and medicinal miracle properties. Nature’s Essence Aloe Vera uses the goodness of this miracle plant from its natural source along with modern manufacturing processes to offer you a treatment moisturizing gel ideal for softening the skin, protecting it from sun damage, and acting as a guard and immunizing agent against skin ailments like dry skin, acne, and itchy skin conditions. The gel is an ideal solution for gifting you soft, glowing, and pampered skin.

Usage: Apply the gel after cleansing your face and massage the gel softly into the skin for softening and protecting it against environmental pollutants. Ideal to be used every day.

Key Ingredients
Aloe vera extracts and Peppermin oil, Mineralized Water. (The label says Tea Tree Oil, but there is no mention of Tea Tree Oil in the ingredients list).

Price: Rs. 55 for 100 gm.

My Take on Nature’s Essence Aloe Vera Gel

Nature’s aloe vera gel comes in a cute round transparent plastic tub with a green cap. The gel itself is very dark leafy green in colour, I saw that Brihan’s gel was a much lighter gel. Nature’s Essence aloe vera gel is mildly fragrant and very pleasant. Though it looks very green in the tub, on finger, it goes very sheer. Upon applying it to the face, it feels a little sticky, but that feeling does not stay for long. I don’t use any particular cream when I am at home in the summers, so I like to generally dab on some aloe gel to keep the skin moisturized. Also, this gel comes handy when I am done with threading or waxing. A little of the gel applied over threaded or waxed skin takes care of the sores and little red bumps post-threading. Also, I use it on face after I have done clean-up facial at home by myself. I used to apply Oriflame serum, but now, I am using aloe vera gel too. It did not break me out and I am using it for the past few days.

The label says sun protection and all, but I don’t think I would like to wear it outside. I would always go out with sunscreen rather than this gel which mentions no SPF. Also, I like to apply it on angry acne bumps, not that this gel clears off acne zits, but then inflammation is reduced considerably.

Aloe vera gel is something that each one of us should have within our reach. At least, I, from now, would like to carry of tub of it at all times.

PROs of Nature’s Essence Aloe Vera Gel
• Multipurpose gel which works on dry skin as well as oily skin.
• Can be applied over minor cuts and bruises.
• Can be used after threading or waxing to soothe those red bumps associated with threading.
• Can be used as the last step in a clean-up routine to moisturize the face.
• Cute packaging.
• Affordable price.

CONs of Nature’s Essence Aloe Vera Gel
• Goes a little sticky on the face initially, later that gets resolved.
• Shelf life of 2 years, whereas Brihan’s aloe vera gel has a shelf life of 5 years.
• Discrepancy in key ingredients listed, the label on the front mentions Tea Tree Oil, but in the key ingredients list, Peppermint Oil is mentioned; I find this disturbing.

Will I Buy It Again? Yes……aloe vera gel I will buy definitely, but I want to try Brihan’s now.

IMBB Star Rating: 3/5…..-2 for ambiguity in key ingredients.

Nice review Jomu.. :puchhi: :puchhi: :puchhi: :puchhi:

And I totally understand abt missing ingredients.. Most companies which claim to be herbal/natural types, conveniently ignore listing out all the ingredients!!!! :X :X :X

  4. I LOVE Brihans aloe vera gel. Unfortunately have been able to locate it only at “Health and Glow” stores. Since Kolkata doesn’t have any H&G, am sad 🙁
Now I am making do with Apollo Pharmacy’s B+ aloe vera gel.
You should try Brihans at least once

  5. Where do you get Nature’s Essence products in Bangalore? I’ve been looking for their Lacto Tan cream everywhere. Are they available in Health And Glow and Big Bazaar? None of the outlets nearby seem to have it. 🙁

  6. I use Patanjali Gel as night cream…..it’s great. I’ll strat mixing it with m y moisturiser for the day too.It is great for summers

    1. Charisma, Aloe vera gel moisturises & soothes the skin. It is also believed that it reduces Acne, Wrinkles etc.

  7. Nice review Jomol, Have seen it so many times but wasn’t sure about it’s efficacy ?:)
    Thanks for the review :))

  12. You should be a bit asking about some products claim since some of it bespeak more than it’s real effect that sometimes are really annoying to the sense that they make lies in order to increase their marketing demands. It truly makes a lot of issue for it compromises every people’s concept about the product.

  13. less shelf life…..wow….the less shelf life less preservatives….love it …any ways i always finish a product within a year so preferred lower shelf life as preservatives harm skin more and more
