Lotus Herbals WHITEGLOW Oatmeal & Yogurt Skin Whitening Scrub Review

Lotus Herbals has recently launched their new Skin Care range called “WHITEGLOW”. Products include Face Mask, Gel Crème, Facial Foam, Scrub, Serum, Micro Emulsion with SPF etc, all intended to whiten and brighten the skin. Skin whitening formulas have never attracted me much but I thought of trying one from this range because Lotus is one of my favorite brands. I picked the White Glow Face scrub since my St Ives scrub had just got over and here is the review.

Product Description

WHITEGLOW Oatmeal & Yogurt Skin Whitening Scrub exfoliates the skin gently, removes dirt, impurities, whiteheads and blackheads leaving your skin brighter and healthier with a shining glow. The gentle exfoliating action works on skin discoloration, dull and uneven skin tones and softens the skin giving you a firmer skin texture. Oatmeal exfoliates gently, restores the natural moisture balance of skin and yogurt moisturizes and lightens the skin reducing imperfections giving you silky, smooth and brighter skin.

Directions

Gently apply the scrub on moistened skin with brisk circular movements on the face and neck. Rinse thoroughly and pat dry. Use twice a week for brighter and luminous skin. Follow with WHITEGLOW Yogurt Radiance Mask for best result.

Price: Rs 145 for 100g

Ingredients:

Quite a surprise that complete list of ingredients is mentioned on the pack unlike earlier products from Lotus.
DM, Water, Glyceryl Monostearate, Glycerine, Isopropyl Myristate, Ployethylene granules, Avena Sativa Meal (Oatmeal) powder, Cetyl Alcohol, Stearic Acid, Light Liquid Paraffin, Yogurt powder, Sodium Lauryl Sulphate, 2-Phenoxyethanol, Methyl Paraben, Propyl Paraben, Alpha-Arbutin, Fragrance.

My Experience

So far Lotus as a brand has never failed to meet my expectations and that is one reason I decided to try out this scrub from their new WHITEGLOW range, and I must say I am loving this product a lot. Previously I have tried their apricot scrub and quite liked it too, but now when I saw the ingredients like oatmeal, yogurt etc I was more than happy since it would be a change from the conventional apricot granules which we find in almost all scrubs available. The scrub feels creamy and smooth to touch and granules are hardly visible unless you start scrubbing it on face. The feeling is exactly like how you would scrub your face with oatmeal powder mixed with yogurt. This scrub is definitely not suited for daily use since the granules are a bit harsh on face unlike how they appear to be. Once I finished scrubbing, applied moisturizer and I could see my face bright and smooth with a visible subtle glow. Whiteheads on my nose area was completely removed and dullness vanished as claimed by the product. Though initially I was a little apprehensive when I found lots of chemical ingredients in our so called Herbal brand, am thoroughly impressed with the end results; after all I don’t think there is any brand which would be 100% Herbal unless explicitly mentioned the same on the pack. Am happy that LotusHerbals no longer remains mysterious when it comes to the ingredient list and let us all welcome the positive change and expecting other Herbal brands also to demonstrate transparency like Lotus.

What I like the most in Lotus Whiteglow Scrub

• Goodness of oatmeal and yogurt packed in a convenient tubular form.
• Skin feels bright and fresh after using the scrub.
• Most of the claims are true I feel – brightens the skin and gives a subtle glow which lasts for few days, removes dullness, dirt, impurities, whiteheads etc.
• Texture is not very thick, it is quite smooth may be due to presence of yogurt and thus spreads very easily on face.
• I like the oatmeal granules which is a change from the common apricot granules found in most other scrubs.
• Very mild and refreshing fragrance- while scrubbing you would hardly feel any smell; a perfect replica of your homemade oatmeal+yogurt scrub which hardly has any smell too…
• Price is quite reasonable.
• Available in almost all Lotus counters.
• Packaging is decent enough- squeezable white tube with twist open silver cap.

What I don’t like in Lotus Whiteglow Scrub

• Contains Parabens – though these are common preservatives in many skin care/cosmetic items, presence of parabens in Lotus which is a brand projected so far as HERBAL is definitely a downside I feel.

Would I re-purchase: Definitely YES, and am planning to try out few other products in the WHITEGLOW range, thoroughly impressed I should say.

My Rating would be: 4.5 out of 5

  1. Woww..this looks really nice product Shyna..Oatmeal and yogurt sound quite promising..and glad that they’ve started including all ingredients in the pack. My apricot scrubs are also about to get over, so I think I’ll also pick it up now!! 😀 😀 :)) :thanks: for the review!!!

          1. Castor must be sleeping… and then she would come and say ‘I was working…’

My biwi had decided since Sunday about trying a look so she is going ahead with the plan..

  2. who cares about whitening..I am still horrified with the whitish cast I got from my Olay whitening lotion..so I better stay away from all whitening products.. Brightening is good!! :sun: :sun: :sun: 😀 😀 😀 Me in for that :waytogo:

    1. :waytogo: btw cali, i think if anyone needs whitening , they must try out the entire range..that is wat SA told..i said i don want to whiten my skin, so i would try this scrub…but they have day creams/gel too with spf..i was tempted to be frank :shy:

        1. even i am happy with my complexion but i wanted to try out their day cream with spf, since the ingredients kind of tempted me and also it came with spf!!!…i was using ponds age miracle previously, loved it too but need a change now

  3. Gabbu, sab ‘bright’ cheezein ‘white’ nahin hoti

Aur ‘whitening’ ki jagah ‘brightening’ kar diya to khareedega kaun… the lure is in the word ‘whitening’ only

    2. Believe it or not fair color has always been associated with superiority… Our Ramayan even is racist in this way, showing Ram and his side as ‘fair-skinned’ and that on the Ravana’s side as dark-skinned. The racism in the west based on skin color is also well-known, what with their enslavements of black people and all…

Somewhere down the line I feel it is innate in our nature also… I see many Indians, males and females alike a slightly put off by negros on the street but appreciative of a white male or female.

  10. I saw Lotus and Whitening and I just assumed it’s JOMOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLl :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: Shynaaaaaaaa..I love that plant you have in the first pic..growing in a glass bowl…is there any particular reason people use those kinds of bowls..I have grown money plant in a regular flower vase (a ceramic one which I couldn’t figure out what to use for) and it’s happily growing there 😀 😀

    1. this glass bowl is actually a mini fish tank..my hubby would buy gold fishes and put in that since our son is too fond of them..but somehow i felt this kind of bowl would be better suited to grow plants..so i bought similar one and started growing plants..i have bowls in different shapes…

      1. I will also get one like that..I have seen these kinds a lot when we were in China..everywhere people keep these..so was wondering if there is any particular reason..err..where do you pick these up from and how do they cost – on an average?

        1. oh really, so many people use it? i thought this was my innovative idea :yelo: and got so many compliments from guests…i picked it from a nearby pet shop, i mean you will get it in shops where they sell ornamental fishes, acquariums etc…i don remember the exact price but it is not more than 150 for this particular size.

          1. Thanks a lot Shyna..awww…well it’s your own innovative idea because you thought it up on your own.. ..ya I have seen it a lot but ONLY in China..and I read online some time back, people keep a particular kind of fish also growing along with this plant..like there is water na..so they keep the fish in that along with the plant..but I have read it’s not good for the fish, so please don’t try it..I will feel very bad for telling it and for the fish :(( :weep: :weep: :weep: from when I saw Nemo..I gave up ideas of keeping a fish bowl and fish and all…

            1. even am not happy to see the fish in this small bowl, i prefer plants..but my son seems to enjoy seeing it a lot so i dont bother much..errr..not much voice since i eat fish!!!

but i’m still waiting for my biotique one to get over….. :waiting: :waiting:

  24. Thanx for this review. After reading ur review, I bought d scrub n I like it better than d St Ives Apricot scrub, which was undoubtedly harsh for my dry & sensitive skin & which never gave me any glow, rather robbed me of my natural moisture.
Yes, it is light & easy formula, it does scrub away dead cells but not completely n removes acne. It also makes my skin soft which further helps in removing acne & also adds a slight glow to the skin.
Though when I used it in harsh winters, in Jan, it made my skin kind of dry, but not anymore. The skin feels clear after using it.
