Helloooooooo ladies! Today I’m going to review my first ever hand cream- Lush Smitten Hand Cream.
I was always skeptical about a separate product for hands and legs as I believed it’s merely marketing gimmicks into feeling us poor creatures into spending more and more. I have to admit I never really paid attention to hand care and while my face used to get treated with a face pack or a moisturizer once in a while; I totally used to ignore my hands.
Courtesy our most famous Lush queen Rads, I was dying to try out some stuff from Lush and after sniffing sniffing all of their wonderful products I got sooo confoosed what to buy and decided to pick Smitten hand cream randomly. I must say I’m glad I did!
This is what Lush has to say about Smitten (cute name na)!
One touch and you are smitten. Instantly effective, deliciously scented, almond hand cream.
Price:Rs.610 for 100gm
Protective, almond scented hand cream. Lush customers asked persistently for a lighter hand cream with the same delicious fragrance as our Snowcake soap. Ask and ye shall receive. Smitten is made with natural oils, calming chamomile and beeswax to protect the hands from extreme weather or nourish them when they need it most. Use smitten regularly for nice soft mitts.
Let me list down the benefits of the key ingredients in Lush Smitten Hand Cream:
Almond- Almonds have been used for centuries to give a youthful radiance and glow to dull and damaged skin. In fact Almond cleanses the skin deeply, rejuvinates and improves the complexion. Almonds have great health benefits in terms of healthy skin. Almonds prevent premature appearance of wrinkles, black heads, pimples and dry skin as well. A regular massage with almond oil will help you to get a glowing and flawless complexion.
Almonds contain Alpha-tocopherol, which is a major source of Vitamin E and is hence really great for healthy hair and skin.
Chamomile- Chamomile flowers have been clinically proven to have anti-inflammatory properties. Lotions and other natural skin care products that are infused with chamomile are used to reduce eczema, itching and other skin inflammation, and greatly help to repair skin on over-worked and over-exposed hands. The natural benefits of chamomile flower include properties such as anti-itching, soothing antiseptic, purifying, refreshing and hypoallergenic with the ability to neutralize skin irritants. In addition, chamomile flower extract helps to tone and strengthen delicate skin tissue.
Beeswax – Acting as a surfactant, beeswax, when blended into cold creams and other skin lotions, forms a protective barrier on the surface of the skin. This barrier provides a film of protection against irritants while still allowing the skin to breathe
I have been using Smitten for more than a month now and I am loviinnng it. First of all using a hand cream has made me more disciplined. I apply it mornings and at night before going to bed. Also after seeing the results I am not skeptical about using a separate cream for hands. I apply the quantity that I have shown in the below pics; after about a few minutes the cream diassapears into my skin. Although if a bit more quantity is used palms do become greasy but as long as the right quantity is used there is nothing much to worry about. My hands have definitely become smoother and brighter after I have started using this. My hands were horribly tanned and there was a major difference in my face and hand shade which now thanks to this cream has reduced. It also keeps my hands moisturised for the entire day. I dont feel there is a need to use it many times during the day. Morning and night application works absolutely fine!!!!
Coming to the pros and cons:
Pros of Lush Smitten Hand Cream
1. My hands have definitely become a shade lighter after I have started using it..yipeee!
2. Hands do become baby soft and smooth.
3. Moisturises hands for the entire day and twice a day application is alright.
4. The smell is mild and pleasant and not at all over powering…
5. I like the texture of the hand cream its not runny and not thick like the body butters..is quite easy to apply…and a small qty is enuf for one application..
6. I think it is a great product for all skin types!!!
Cons of Lush Smitten Hand Cream
1. Courtesy our Ratimata…i have started disliking pot packaging. Yeah comes in a pot, so unhygenic…
2. If more quantity is applied hands easily become greasy…
3. Has not worked on my cuticles. I would have looveeeed this cream even more if only it had worked on my hard cuticles…
Final verdict: I loove Lush Smitten Hand Cream simply because it has lightened my tan and also made my hands baby soft and smooth. I will give this 3.5 out of five. I have taken one point for not working on my cuticles and half point for the pot packaging.
Will I repurchase it: I have been begging my brother to get me Loccitane because I want to try that one. If he doesnt get me that I will definitely pick this one again.
