Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain Review

Hi Ladies,

Today, I am going to review one of my favorite lip products. I had read great reviews about Revlon Kissable Lip Stains and thought I will buy one and see how good it is. I bought myself one on my shopping trip and couldn’t stop buying more.  I now have 5 of Revlon’s Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains out of a total of 12 shades and one from their Revlon Just Bitten Lip Stain + Balm Collection.  So, I will be reviewing Revlon’s Kissable Balm Stain here.  Revlon Just Bitten Lip Stain + Balm has already been reviewed here by Harika. I will also try to point out the differences between Kissable Balm Stain and Revlon Lip Stain + Balm.

My Take on Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain:

Packaging:

As mentioned in the product description, kissable balm stain looks a lot like a chubby crayon. It has a silver-colored twistable base for protracting and retracting the lip stain. It looks a lot like Clinique’s Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Color Balm. I love the cute packaging and the pointed tip helps to apply the lip stain accurately.  The packaging of lip stain + balm is okay, nothing impressive, but serves the purpose well.

Texture:

The lip stain has a creamy texture and is lightweight. It doesn’t feel heavy even if many layers are put on the lips. It didn’t bleed on the corners of the lips as some of the lightweight lipsticks do.  The balm lip stain doesn’t dry the lips as the lip stain + balm does.

Fragrance:

The balm stain has a pleasing, cool, minty fragrance. It stays for around half an hour after application.  The lip stain + balm have the typical highlighter smell. I find it irritating.

Color:

They are somewhat sheer but not too sheer, definitely not opaque and won’t hide lip pigmentation. Layers of lip stain can be put on lips without looking artificial or heavy. You can layer different colors of lip stains to get new colors and looks. I have written about each Balm Stain in the order seen in the photos.

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Honey:

The far most left in the swatches is the Honey Balm Stain.  It is a mauvy pink. It looks similar to the color of onion peel. It’s an everyday color. It is one of my favorites in the collection.

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Lovesick:

The second from left is Lovesick.  It is a deep pink with a hint of purple.

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Sweetheart:

The third from the left is Sweetheart.  It is pure dark pink.  It is a very cute color and is one of my favorites.

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Smitten:

The fourth from the left is Smitten.  This is the darkest of the pinks in my collection. It has more than a hint of purple. It has got more purple in it than Lovesick.

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Adore:

The last but one in reddish brown color is Adore. It is very sheer when a single swipe is applied, giving just a light reddish hue. Multiple swipes make it reddish brown.

Lastly, here is the Revlon Lip Stain + Balm in Passion:

The right most swatch is the lip stain + balm. Here, I have not used the balm, so it looks just like a swipe by a sketch. Even with the balm, it doesn’t have the glossy finish of the Kissable balm stains.  The color of lip stain + balm is less sheer compared to kissable balm stain.

Staying Power:

I am amazed at its staying power. It stays on me for more than eight hours.  The glossy effect goes off after 2-3 hours or after either eating or drinking, but the stain effect will last for hours. If you want the glossy look, a single swipe of lip stain on lips will ensure it.  The lip stain + balm stays 2-3 hours more than the kissable balm stain, but I have found it quite drying my already dry lips.

After taking the photos of the swatches, I had a difficult time washing them off my hands. They wouldn’t go with normal bathing soap or face washes. I had to rub a lot, but still, it did not go off completely. I used two of my make-up removers and it still couldn’t be fully removed. I had to rub very hard with the remover to finally get it off my hands and you know which one lasted the most, the lip stain + balm. I think that was obvious!
