Garnier Pure Active Multi-Action Toner-Review

Hello Beauties,

Hope you all are having wonderful week 🙂 Here in Malaysia we had long weekend holiday for Chinese New Year. Hubby has 2 days off along with the weekend so spent quite time at home after a long time, of course did some shopping over the weekend, all in all weekend well spent 🙂

Today I’ll be review a toner from Garnier’s Pure Active Range. This range is specifically for oily to acne prone skin and I had heard good reviews on them. The range consists of Foam, Toner, Scrub and a Roll on. This range of products have 2% of Salicylic Acid which as well know helps in fighting those ugly acne monsters!

Garnier Pure Active Multi Action Toner
Product Description:-

Garnier PureActive Multi Action Toner provides an instant cooling affect and helps control sebum to clear impurities and control shine on acne-prone skin.

My experience with Garnier Pure Active Multi-Action Toner-:

I had quite high expectations from this product since it has salicylic acid and is meant specifically for acne prone skin. The packaging is quite good, it comes in sturdy white plastic bottle with a flip open cap. The cap is very tight so no chances of spillage at all. The opening on the cap is small so it dispenses right amount of liquid, nothing too major and not too little. Its perfect and one can easily control the amount coming out easily. Full points on packaging.

The toner looks like plain white water since its transparent. I usually use is after washing my face morning and evening. I dab a little on cotton pads and gently swirl around on my face concentrating on areas where I get acne and tend to be oily. The toner once applied gives slightly cooling sensation, again nothing too major like menthol. It gets absorbed in the skin but it does not mattify the skin. I feel it leaves the skin quite moisturized not sticky or oily. I believe this would be due to the presence of glycerine as one of the ingredients.

For me the biggest issue is the smell! It smells of spirit but way too stronger! I don’t have sensitive nose and still I cannot bear it. Infact even when I am applying on my cheeks my eyes start to water sometimes due to the strong smell of the tone. I hate it! If you have sensitive nose or if you dont like spirit smell stay way.

Now coming to the claims, I have been using this toner since past 3 weeks now and I don’t feel it has done anything extra ordinary for me. I don’t see any difference in my pores, nor it has magically made my pimples disappear though I never expected that. It does help in controlling sebum production to a certain extent which is ok. I don’t get blackheads much but yes whiteheads too are in control with regular usage of this toner.

Garnier Pure Active Multi Action Toner 5

Pros of Garnier Pure Active Multi-Action Toner-:

-> Gets absorbed fast..
-> Does not leave sticky or oily film on the skin
-> Moisturizes the skin pretty well (atleast for me) due to glycerine.
-> Contains salicylic acid which is fantastic for acne.
-> Easily available.
-> Price vs quantity is good.
-> Controls sebum production.
-> Whiteheads are under control with regular usage.

Cons of Garnier Pure Active Multi-Action Toner-:

-> Does not mattify the skin.
-> Extremely strong smell, hate it!
-> Leaves behind overly moisturized skin, people with dry skin might like it but I prefer mattifying toners.
-> Didnt work on pores.
-> Didnt help with pimples.

IMBB Rating:

3.5

Price:-

17 RM for 150 ml

Will I recommend Garnier Pure Active Multi-Action Toner?

If you have sensitive nose no but if you are ok with the strong smell and if you have acne prone skin you can give it a shot. I prefer mattifying toners which don’t leave behind any residue and this one does not do that.

Hope the review was helpful, until next time tc and stay beautiful!

  1. Nice review parita.. I am looking for a good toner for my oily skin.. But guess will give it a pass.. spirit smell is a no no.. :/

  2. i was so excited when i saw this post, coz i use the pure active balckhead scrub n love that! it really suits me n my blackheads on nose esp hav vanished! i finished the my most recent tube a few months back & did not repurchase it, n i still hav no blackheads!! waitin for summer to get it again…so u can imagin a toner from same range wud hav me sooo excited but i have an EXTREMELY sensitive nose 🙁 evn some mild scented products giv me terrible migraines 🙁

  3. i got Clinique anti-blemish solutions toner recently and i love it. i too have combination skin highly prone to acne. the Clinique one does not leave behind any residue. Although i am yet to see its effect on pores, but its still too early in my usage to comment on that. perhaps you should try that.

    1. yes supriya but for that we need a stronger dose and this one is mild, though with regular usage it will help in keeping your skin clear but nothing too dramatic

  4. Pari the packaging is so very eye catching and promising:-) ..no wonder i would have picked this one 🙂 ..thanks for sharing 🙂 even me like my tonerzzz to be residue free:-)
