St. Ives Moisturizing In-Shower Exfoliating Body Polish

St. Ives Moisturizing In-Shower Exfoliating Body Polish

Hi Friends, Today, I’m going to review an exfoliating body polish by St.Ives.  I have used the St. Ives Apricot Scrub in the past, but this is for the first time that I have tried another product from St. Ives.  Winter has left my skin dry and flaky, especially, I feel my elbows and knees are rather dry, so I started to use this product about 2 weeks ago.

St. Ives Moisturizing In Shower Exfoliating Body Polish

I bought this about 6 months back, but didn’t get the time to try it.  This moisturising polish contains Oatmeal and Shea Butter and both are well-known moisturising ingredients. Also, since St. Ives in my mind is linked to scrubbing (thanks to St. Ives apricot scrub), I went ahead and bought this product. What tempted me to buy this product is that it exfoliates and moisturises at the same time.

Product Description:
Formula with natural sugar crystals and oatmeal and sheabutter extracts gently exfoliates and cleanses to leave your skin smooth, bright and moisturised without over drying for radiant, irresistibly soft skin. Reseal cap to avoid excess water in jar.

Directions For Use:
While bathing or showering, apply generously to damp skin using a circular motion. Particular attention can be applied to areas such as heels, knees and elbows than can become extra dry and flaky. Rinse body polish with water.
Made in USA. Product not tested on animals

My Take on St. Ives Moisturizing In-Shower Exfoliating Body Polish:

I use this on alternate days and just as suggested in directions, I apply on damp skin while showering. The consistency is quite thick and hard and is not runny.  When I first opened the tub, I actually thought the product had spoiled because the product was a hard solid and looked like frozen butter.

St. Ives body scrub

I used a spatula to get the required quantity out. The first couple of times I almost had to scrape the product out of the tub. Even though it is difficult to scoop it out of the jar, once it hits wet skin, it melts and turns into a rich and spreadable lather.  I use it all over my body but concentrate on my heels and elbows. The oatmeal particles are actually visible and makes me feel that I am using a natural product.  Even though it is a scrub, it lathers well. After washing it out, my skin does feel smoother; however, the results are not very long lasting.  I don’t know whether this is because I have only been using this for 2 weeks now. I might wait and see if the effect is long lasting.

This product has a very mild, natural and delicious fragrance which I guess is a plus point. The fragrance does not clash with my body lotion.  I moisturise using Garnier body lotion after this.  On some days, I feel I can skip the moisturizer altogether.

One benefit of this scrub is that it can be used in between waxing appointments. It reduces ingrown hairs. Also, I think that my underarms have lightened after I started using this product and the area has become soft.

Pros of St. Ives Moisturizing In-Shower Exfoliating Body Polish:

  • Exfoliates the skin without drying or hurting it.
  • Mild fragrance.
  • It is quite cheap if on sale.
  • One 226 gm tub will last for quite a while.

Cons of St. Ives Moisturizing In-Shower Exfoliating Body Polish:

  • Effect is not long lasting.
  • Might not be available in all cities, I only find it in some drugstores.
  • I would have preferred a tube format; however, as this product has a hard consistency, a tub I guess will be the best option.
  • No expiry date mentioned and I don’t now for how long it can be used after opening.
  • Since the tub has a wide mouth, water can get easily into it.
