Home Remedies for Scalp Acne

Though scalp acne is less heard of than acne on the face or back, but it develops in the same way. At its most basic level, any pimple — including one that pops up on your scalp – is caused by some sort of blockage in the pore.

Hormonal changes, stress, humid conditions, pollution, certain chemicals and oils in shampoos, oily or greasy scalp etc are few causes of scalp acne.

  1. Awesome tips Era. These tricks with cleanliness are definitely helpful for scalp acne.
If you’ll allow, I would like to add,
Please consult a dermatologist if your scalp acne is persistent, recurrent or you see a secondary change in it like collection of pus. As I have seen, teenagers generally try to overlook the condition because the scalp is anyway hidden by the hair and they present later with spreading infection. It may lead to severe conditions like cellulitis and infection of deep sinuses inside the brain, long term effects also include patchy baldness. So please never overlook scalp infections. NEVER scratch it or try to remove the scab. I know it sounds gross but 80% of people love doing that and the infection flares us.
Its easily preventable and manageable by hygiene and Era has given some great tips. 🙂
