Olay Moisturizing Lotion Review

Olay Moisturizing Lotion Review

Olay Moisturizing Lotion Review

After my bout of illness, in the past two weeks, my skin had become extremely dry and parched.  I tried using the Shahnaz Husain Skin Balm/anti-ageing cream (will review it shortly), that I had bought for my mom, but it gave me acne ( I should seriously stop using products that I buy for my mom :headbang: :headbang: ).  So, I thought of looking out for an effective yet lighter moisturizer.  I was ordering a few healthcare equipments from an online healthcare website, and when I found this Olay Moisturizing Lotion while surfing, I ordered this along.  This is a 30 ml pack to try out whether it would suit me.

normal to combination skin

Product Description:

Olay moisturizing lotion replenishes normal/combination skin (there it goes again  :headbang: :headbang:).  This lotion is formulated with ingredients to help restore and maintain firm youthful looking skin.  Its formula contains fluids so similar to the natural fluids in young skin that skin readily claims as its own.  Quickly and greaselessly replenishes essential moisture.  In laboratory testing, Olay Moisturizing Lotion has been shown significantly to boost skin hydration, increase skin suppleness and firmness, improve skin smoothness.

My Take on Olay Moisturizing Lotion:

This moisturizing lotion is not the same as the Olay Total Effects moisturizer.  This is a cute 30 ml bottle with a mildly fragrant, not-so-thick lotion.  It gets quickly absorbed into the skin leaving a non-greasy yet hydrated skin.  I don’t know whether the “non-greasy” feeling would still persist after my “dry skin” phase is over.  Right now, this is working for my skin perfectly, keeps my skin well moisturized throughout without making it look dull.  I even use it beneath the Maybelline BB cream and it works well.

Details

I have worn it for quite a few days now and haven’t experienced any breakouts.  By the way, the instructions at the pack say “for normal/combination skin,” I have neither normal skin nor any type of combined skin, I just have “bad skin” :((, and this moisturizer is kind of improving the texture of my skin.  I am so glad I picked it up and I need to find a bigger sized pack of this, I am that happy 😛

Pros of Olay Moisturizing Lotion:

  • Provides adequate moisturization without causing any greasiness of skin.
  • Can be worn beneath foundation, BB cream, and other sort of makeup.
  • Keeps skin well hydrated.
  • Eases out dry and stretchy patches on the skin.
  • Works well for oily skin because its not a heavy moisturizer.
  • Available at a reasonable price and in a 30 ml pack.

Cons of Olay Moisturizing Lotion:

  • Contains parabens.
  • Does not contain SPF.
  • Right now, my skin is in a “dry phase” and hence this moisturizer might be working well, I don’t know exactly how it would turn out when my skin returns back to its “oily self.”

Will I Repurchase Olay Moisturizing Lotion?

Yes, I would, this time I will try to find a bigger-sized version.

  1. jomo i lovee the first pic. and i might use this since it is for normal skin. :woot: :woot: :woot: :woot: :woot: :woot:

hiihihihih why were you using your mom’s stuff? :snicker:

  2. My aunt is using this lotion since eternity i thnk.. she swears by this lotion, she started using it when it was oil of olay and it was nt available in India.. she imported it from US or UK, bt never used anythng else.. Once i gifted her Shahnaz hussain’s cream, aftr using it she said its good(maybe becoz i giftd) , bt continued using this only… 🙂

    1. Visakhi………….this plain moisturizer is working nicely for me, I know now why so many people like Olay Olay……no anti-ageing stuff for me in the near future at least…… :woot: :woot:

  3. awesomeeee..am thrilled to hear Olay is working for you. i recommend the Olay total effects to anyone and everyone who cares to listen and just abt everyone i know who started to use it has benefitted. the ONLY moisturizer that works for me..and gals – anyone in the 40+ normal to oily skin shud try this. (I wish Olay paid me for saying this :haanji: :haanji: :haanji: )

I loved it when you said ” have neither normal skin nor any type of combined skin, I just have “bad skin” :hihi: i know what you mean.

while I am tempted enuf to try this next, somehow i am also torn by sticking to what is working for me currently 🙂

      1. so what u doing then to make it ok? Aloe vera u think? Lush face packs, olay perhaps? hmm let me think what else..Lacto calamine??? (my first love :pompom: :pompom: will always remember it fondly)

          1. hey there lady!! hows u? hope all is well with the world..me fine..waiting to step out for dinner at the mall  will pass by Lush and I can already feel that i will pick up something. :headbang: :headbang: btw am wearing that pink lipstick i bought from you. I love it

                1. i am wearing beige pants, white jacket, yellow top, black bag and n*de heels. 😀 and white and turquoise bangles and white watch. 😀

                  1. oh that sounds smart. the orange somewhere fits in with the yellow top i think. wud like to see u in this (sounds so sidey but you know what i mean 😆 )

                    1. hihihihih i am quite excited to show the yellow top though. 😛 it has lovely cutwork flaawers :hihi: :hihi: :hihi: :hihi:

            1. M good Aruna 🙂 the weather is changing here in Delhi so its gets coldish one day n next day it gets hot :tremble: :tremble:

              wht all u plaaning to buy? :victory2: :victory2: :victory2:

              1. i am only planning the ‘crashcourse in skincare’ face pack as of now. if i can pick up 50 gms of 2 of them versus one of 100 gms i’ll pick up the Honey brazened one too. btw, i checked out their sunscreen – 3800 bucks..i said No thank you 😉 all the sunblocks so far (l’oreal and lotus ) have broken me out so the hunt for a good sunblock is on..i do use lotus for the body though.

                1. Wow….Aru…you tempting me to get the Lush face packs…….that’s in GVK mall na….lush ka counter…. :yahoo:

                  1. for me Inorbit is closer (live in gachibowli)..i dont recall seeing Lush in GVK. i think its worth one try ..its between 600 – 700. Crashcourse is 710 for 100 gms. Honey brazened is 600 bucks i think.

                    ok gotta go..keep it going..ciao

                2. hey even m plannning to pick 2 masks if thy let me buy 50 gms otherwise i ll get one…. i was thinking of crashcourse and cosmetic warrior 🙂
n u shud try la roche posay sunscreen , its really good 🙂
also, my derma told most of the sunscreeensss in this world will clog pores and thus coz break outs :((

                  1. i bought the crashcourse just like i thot i wud. i even got my friend to buy it. 🙂 i had recommended olay total effects to her which helped her so she kind of trusts me i think now so she picked up the honey brazened one. i will buy the roche posay sunscreen then. where can i buy it from? sorry to be such a pest..

  4. jomolay :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

  6. Jo..I love the green background..u shud get it copyrighted
BTW, my Mom has that olay 7 effects in gentle and normal..so,i get to use them too(as a night cream)..and lemme tell u they are really good ! this lotion seems great too..will get this soon :jog:

  7. ooohh great photography…esp the 2nd pic!!! and the product sounds so nice…..AND i can TOHTALLY relate to the ‘i just have ‘very bad’ skin ” 😐 Does olay have anything for oily, problem skin???

    1. they have only 2 types if i am not mistaken – Normal and Gentle. I think out of the two, gentle might be better. the price is a little steep to ‘just’ try..maybe if u find a sachet like Jomol did, it might be the best thing. and this particular lotion that has been reviewed might also be a good thing to try. good luck..

        1. OOpsiiiiiiiiii….thanks so much for the fotu compliment….I am so happy :happydance: :happydance: :happydance: :happydance: :happydance: :happydance:

  8. nice review  . whenever i step in to olay counter, i m really confused wit so many products.. :chewnails: but this one seems really good.. will consider buying.. :)) being combination-oily, sometimes my skin goes dry.. I use garnier essentials – total comfort for dry skin.. that is really good and keeps my skin hydrated.

      1. Sacch mein Aru….we both should compare our skin care and makeup notes on a weekly basis….VLCC, Garnier didn’t work for me, even Neutrogena sunblock causes patches on my skin….. :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

    1. Jomol, I’m not sure which one u r talking abt.. garnier moisturiser(usual – yellow one) didnt work for me too.. but this one is total comfort for dry skin with rose water and vit e.. I use this cream only on those areas which go dry… my skin feels really good and hydrated.. but i m goin to try this olay lotion as i have combination skin..:)

      1. Laxmi…that yellow one also and there is this green one too na….that green one I had tried……..will be glad if you review it here Laxmi…..I am sure it will help many of us… :woot: :woot: :woot: :woot:

  9. Jomoleeee.. behen kaisi ho ab.. v all misshed you so much… :haanji: :haanji:

  12. Jomollayyyyy :happydance:
So glad to hear you are all right now ! i missed out on a lot 😉

by the way ,you should definitely try the Olay Regenerist range ,the one with silver packaging . My mom has been using it for a month and her skin is literally glowing now . She was using total effects which was just all rigt, but this one literally transformed her skin 🙂

  13. hieee jomo…

i have this.. :happydance: :happydance: and after using this for some days..my face started glowing(slight oil)..i like that kinda look :preen:

nice nice…even am gonna buy abigger one

    1. Ginny….wow…..I too want glowing skin…..I will continue using this now :jiggy1: :jiggy1: :happydance: :happydance:

  14. im toh still totaly gaga over the oriflame royal velvet mask u had reviewed… i just have to use it as night cream and im sorted for the day even..!! :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

    1. Neha….the Oriflame Velvet Cream is so amazzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzing na……the best one I have used….I am so glad you found it great too :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

  15. iv never used olay.. my mom used to use oil of olay… she used to call for it from UAE .. tht bottle was soo pretty and vintage looking..infact even the lotion looked pretty.. but it nver suited my oily skin :(( :((

but now olay haso many variants… i gues i should take a look too 🙂

    1. Neha….I think this is the lightest version available of Olay…..I had never seen this before, but good that online sites are stocking up such stuff…..Oil of Olay even Aru has mentioned……

  16. Jomol, feeling so good to see you here, hope arohan is much much better now, and i know how difficult to manage when kids are unwell, went through the same phase with my 3yr old son when he was sick in december 🙁
BTW, a very good review, mine is a combination too, sometimes too oily, sometimes dry, mad skin :stars: :stars: :stars: i will try this for sure :))

    1. Shami………awwwwwwwwwwwwww……your son too was in hospital :puchhi: :puchhi: I agree its so tough to see them getting the IV infusion……I am so scared of going there again :(( :(( :(( :((

    1. Hi Vish…..thankoooooo so much……more reviews coming up…..I have taken the pics, but I am too lazy to write about it :(( :(( . Hunterwali is removed Vish…..me too sad, but spank is still there, so here’s from me to you :spank: :spank: :spank: :spank:

  18. Hope your son is better now :teddy: my regards to him.
I think Olay is a good brand, but never tried a single product so far…

I have seen a similar olay moisturiser at the store but with SPF 15/20 …do check it out..
Did you take too many antibiotics while sick, that causes extreme dry skin and hair loss….happens to me when I take antibiotics ….

Look after yourself internally also,…loads of water, fruits and veggies and better to avoid too spicy (read hot, chilli) food for sometime as your body already will have lots of heat…

    1. Thanks Supriya :rose: :rose: :teddy: :teddy: yes, I had taken a course of antibiotics and then everyone at home started falling sick and I stopped taking care of my skin. I will follow what you have advised too….thanks :rose: :rose:

  19. Jomolay. Me so glad u r ok now ;))
Grt revooo btw if you want anti aging things so bas start with the serums. They are light weight. One SA at sephora told me abt them

  20. Beeeeeeeeeee,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,nahin I have stopped using anti-ageing stuff….will start them at the right time and age…..i have learnt my lesson that its not for me now :teeth :teeth
