My Take on Revlon Luxurious Color – Smoky Crayon – Black Smoke:

This crayon comes in a twist-up tube. It also has a little pull-out sharpener at the end, to sharpen out the tip for a thin and a well-defined look.  It is actually meant for smokey looks. I didn’t know what I was thinking when I was buying this, I was just driven crazy by the SA, who didn’t even give me a chance to think twice.  She convinced me so badly that this was one miraculous product. ( :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: )

When I used it for the first time, I felt an irritation in my eyes, as if something was there bothering the eye.  To my horror, the kajal started flaking off slowly after some time and my eyes started watering. ( I have always noticed this whenever I use this kajal).  Yes, it was happening only with this.  To test, I used Maybelline Colossal Kajal and Colorbar I Glide Pencil and and my eyes were just doing fine.  Then, I realized that it did not suit my eyes and I wasted my money purchasing the product. 😥 😥 😥

Finally, I didn’t want to throw this away as I had spent 525 bucks on the product; so, I started using it on my eyelid as a liner/eyeshadow base for a smokey look and it worked just fine.  It serves as a nice base for a smokey look. It glides well on the eyelids as it is a cream-based crayon.

Here are the swatches of the product.

Now, I will quickly list out the pros and cons.

Pros of Revlon Luxurious Color – Smoky Crayon – Black Smoke:

• The color is intense black, which I like very much.
• It is nicely pigmented.
• Very smooth and glides well.
• Staying power is good (both on waterline and eyelid) – up to 4-6 hours.
• The quantity of the product is more.

Cons of Revlon Luxurious Color – Smoky Crayon – Black Smoke:

• My eyes sting very badly whenever I apply on the waterline.
• The price!!! (I was so excited when I purchased it, but later, when I tried it, I felt very depressed as it did not suit my eyes).
• Using the little pull-out sharpener, there might be a little wastage of the product.
• This cannot be used to draw a very thin line on the lids.

This is how you use a pull-out sharpener to sharpen the tip.

See how the tip is sharpened and the thin-est possible line you can draw, it will be something like this (single and double swipe).

Overall, I would say that it is an okay-ish product though it irritated my eyes when I applied it over the waterline, but it does a decent job on the eyelids).

  1. jyotsna this product is not menat to be used as a kajal. it is to be used as abase for smokey eyes only. and if that works fine, the product is just fine. mac makes shade sticks, which work the similar way. this is just a cheaper and effective option.

    1. Rati actually na.. that SA told me that its a kajal.. and when i swiped on my hand at the store.. it came out intense black.. i am a sucker for blackest black kajals.. so i took it!! 😥 😥 had no idea that time that its meant for the lid… :shame: :shame:

Somehow i found that it flakes even on the eyelid… i mean when i apply as a line and when i tried to smudge it with a brush i saw small tiny flakes falling out on my cheek… ( Don know if its normal..)

    1. yeah actually..its a creamy one.. so glides well, but after a minute it dries and sets…

but for oily lids it might crease a little… :smug: :smug:

  2. Bad product!!!!! i hate when expensive products turn out to be fail.. :pissedoff: gel liners r always best for smokey look!!! sad it didnt work for u!!! 😥 😥

  3. i saw this on the revlon counter n the SA was after me to buy the brown shade in this but really jyotsna, i wasnt impressed at the first place & then the revlon simple eye pencils r much better than these :waytogo: , i got tht brown as a free gift wih my purchase & its superb

  4.   Stings AND flakes? :nababana: :nonono:
Sad it didn’t work for yo,hun…but guess it would work well as an e/s base. :))
