I have been using Lotus Herbals White Glow Creme and serum for almost 20 days now. I think time is ripe that i do the review now. :) To start with, I have normal to dry skin in summers.

What I like about Lotus Herbals White Glow Skin Whitening & Brightening Gel Creme

  • I like the texture of the cream. The texture is something between gel and cream. It’s light and gets absorbed within 5-7 seconds of applying.
  • The cream is excellent for summers. It’s not oily and even during the day it does not make my skin T Zone oily.
  • Even though the cream is light , it provides good moisturization to skin. I have not faced any dry patches or stretching even after 6 hours of applying this creme.
  • It has SPF 25, which is definitely an added benefit.
  • The cream has mild pleasant fragrance. It’s not perfumy for sure.
  • I like the packaging. it’s pretty translucent glass jar with silver metal screw cap.
  • The gel creme claims skin lightening and brightening. Well! I have neither seen skin brightening or lightening of my skin even after applying it for so many days. What I have definitely noticed that my skin does not look dull. Since I have started going to office now, my skin is getting more exposed to pollution, sun and dust. My skin is a lot prone to looking dull and tired. I think this cream has definitely helped in keeping my skin the way it is, if not anything better.
  • This gel creme would work just fine for girls with combination- oily skin as well.
  • Lotus has provided full list of ingredients.
  • it does not leave oily or whitish cast behind. you face looks a little perspired after you apply the gel creme but that settles down within a few seconds.

lotus herbals whiteglow gel cremeThese are the ingredients.

lotus herbals whiteglow gel creme ingredients

What I don’t like about Lotus Herbals Whiteglow Skin Whitening & Brightening Gel Creme

  • The claim of skin lightening and brightening within 7 days is quite tall.  I think that would be possible only if you are  in a.c. all the time.
  • They have used parabens as preservatives.
  • What is D.M.  (mentioned in ingredients) ?
  • The glass pot, although pretty, is quite bulky to carry around.

Here is the swatch of the whiteglow gel creme.

Overall I would say is that it’s a nice summer cream. Light and gets absorbed quickly. Don’t expect any miraculous brightening or whitening. If you stay at home most of the time, it might add some brightness to skin. For office going girls, it might help retain the original texture of your skin, if nothing else.

Reply

Aarthi March 20, 2011 at 7:17 pm

Since this has SPF 25, can I skip using sunscreen?

Reply

Rati March 21, 2011 at 10:33 pm

no aarthi. I don’t think you should skip using sunscreen.Plus chennai summers are pretty harsh so def use a sunscreen with spf 30 or more.

I’ll tell you something abt this cream. when you apply it, your face looks perspired/ oily so dont panic coz it’ll settle down. :)

Hi Rati,

i too have all their products in this range . Used it for almost a week now…It didn’t show any brightening or whitening for me neither :pain: . Though I spend hardly 10 mins in sun for a day .

Which cream would you prefer to use in the night as both the emulsion and gel cream has SPF. Just the serum ??

I like their scrub and face wash more in the range.

-Kaps(Karpagam)

Rati March 21, 2011 at 10:35 pm

Kaps I use the day cream only at night.. serum + day cream .. Bt I was thinking the same that they should have included the night cream as well.

Sabrina March 20, 2011 at 7:09 pm

This range looks interesting, Rati, but I think I would give them a pass. But thanks for the review & info.

First of all thanks Rati for the review,i dared to buy this cream after reading ur review and to my surprise it works wonders on my super oily skin,i am yet to see the brightening effect ;-),however the skin looks fresh,I have been religiously using this cream for past 10 days, and the my skin feels good, unlike the oily feeling that i used get after applying Garnier Light, this is the first light cream that i have come across which is not creating any problem on my super oily skin,Garnier light gave me 8 dirty pimples/acne in a row on my right cheek and it looks like a long scar and i am trying out all possible home remedies to do away with the ugly scars. Will definately try the scrub from this range once i am done the neutrogena scrub that i recently purchased.
I agree with you that they missed night cream in this range, hope they lauch it soon, for now my skin is thankful to Lotus Herbals day cream :yahoo:

Hey Rati,
How you doing. I live in the UK, in London. Basically, the other day I was searching the internet and came across the Lotus herbal- Whiteglow Skin Whitening & Brightening Gel cream, and the cream looked quite good after reading people’s reviews, and in particularly, yours. But because this is an Indian product, I’m not sure if this product is available here in London. So is it possible if you can please let me know if I can purchase this product from here or not and if so, from where exactly can I purchase it.
The thing is, the more I search on this product, the more I want it. So it will be a GREAT help and I’ll be REALLY happy if you could let me know as soon as you receive this, thanks a ton…BTW loving your blog.

do u use any moisturiser along with it? or just this… can u suggest a goodmoistriser for dry skin other than the aroma magic one as it is not available… if possible with SPF…
i was thinking of following this with lotus herbals spf in gel form..
have u tried sandalscreen of lotus..?
and wht abt revlon touch and glow… am i tiring u with questions?

i am coming to this post after a long long time. I bought the Lotus gel creme, mask, scrub and the cleansing foam today on my way home and have used the foam, the mask and the gel creme so far after I got home. I am really really hoping this works cos the products look good and promising. i can always fall back on my tried and tested Olay but was very tempted at the same time to try one another product.

Hi Rati,
I too hv tried this cream. I hv dry but acne prone skin with pigmentation.
Though I did feel slight whitening effect but
its not very moisturising, so its mainly for summers &
it flakes if u apply a little more.
Furthermore, I felt it gave me a few acnes on using it regularly over time.
So I definitely wont buy it again. Though my sister really liked it since she has normal skin (no acnes).
I checked its ingredients through an acne site & it has 7 Comedogenic (acne causing) ingredients!!! Though it has skin lightening agents as well.
But I certainly wont recommend it to ppl with acne prone skin
