Biotique Citronella Refreshing Body Massage Oil Review

Biotique Citronella Refreshing Body Massage Oil

Hello IMBB Sweeties! :jiggy1:

I have so many Biotique products that it would seriously take at least one month if I review each of them every day of the month. This time I thought to review this body massage oil which I used quite regularly during summers.

Some Overlooked Facts:
Although Citronella essential oil has been typecast as an insect repellant (especially for malaria carrying mosquitoes), it also has great benefit in clearing the mind, refreshing rooms and for softening skin, while combating oily skin and sweaty feet.

1) Aromatherapy:
Citronella oil is an essential oil that possesses activating and warming qualities both physically and mentally. The aroma is like lemons, somewhat grassy fragrance. Citronella oil is overlooked in aromatherapy because of its association with insect repellency. When it is diluted properly in base oil and is applied to skin, it produces a mild sensation of warmth which relieves painful muscles and joints. Mentally, the aroma of citronella oil may help with nervous fatigue due to its clarifying properties. It can also ease pressure of migraines and headaches very effectively. It blends well with cedarwood, orange, geranium, lemon and bergamot and lavender oil.

2) As an astringent:
Citronella oil is an astringent and if used correctly it may help with oily skin areas. Use a single drop of citronella oil on the skin on your inner forearm to test for irritation. Apply two or three drops of it to a cotton ball and gently wipe off the excess oil. Then complete your regular facial routine.

3) Used as a topical treatment:
Citronella oil may also help prevent body odor and improve the tone of human muscles. Rubbing it on the skin may promote blood circulation and increase the discharge of glandular enzymes and hormones. Oily skin and hair are reportedly improved by the application of citronella oil.

4) Citronella oil is also an excellent complexion aid.

People with acne or to remove excessive oil on the skin, can use citronella oil in a solution of several essential oils such as chamomile, tea-tree or lavender essential oil, or use it directly on the skin. After testing your skin for sensitivity to citronella oil, put a few drops on a cotton ball and apply them directly to problem areas after washing the face each day.
Citronella oil helps in toning the skin, and also tighten the pores. It is also commonly used in sun protection creams and insect repellants made from natural and non-chemical products.

My Experience:
Now to start with; I know many of you may feel weird and a bit awkward  to think of using Citronella massage oil on body, which is well known for its usage in repelling mosquitoes! The uses and applications of Citronella oil have been overlooked due to its well-known application in repelling insects. :haanji:

I didn’t know anything about this product earlier; before I got honey gel face wash, berry berry cleanser and citronella body oil absolutely free with purchase of Biotique products worth Rs. 1000.
When I first used it on my body, I felt a warming sensation all over. Its fragrance is similar to pure citronella essential oil, which is kind lemony, bit of grassy fragrance. I love its fragrance, it :inlove: really soothes my mind and I feel very refreshing for my senses. Its fragrance is really strong and it lingers for a long time even after bath. While bathing, I feel a cooling sensation on my skin when I apply this oil. After bath, my skin remains moisturized, very smooth and quite soft. It is a very refreshing oil that even repelled mosquitoes and insects, which was a big menace at my PG at Kolkata. 😆 My roommates used to tease me a lot for that, but I loved it and used it despite their continuous leg pulling. 😀 One can even dilute this with coconut oil and use to massage scalp to remove dandruff effectively (one of the aroma therapists at Ooty told me this secret). There is a lot of quantity, which would last six months easily if you regularly use it.

Pros of Biotique Citronella Oil:
-It has lots of applications ranging from its use in cosmetic products to its use it health industry.
-Its fragrance is very soothing to nerves.
-It refreshes me really well during summer hot.
-The fragrance lingers for a long time even after bath.
-Keeps my skin well moisturized, smooth and healthy looking.
-It has anti-inflammatory properties and can be used in pimple reduction and removal of excessive oil.
-It contains peppermint oil that gives a cooling effect while taking bath.
-It helped me a lot to curb the mosquito menace at my PG. 😀
-Price is very reasonable.
-Quantity provided is really a lot, would last 6 months easily.
-It also contains lavender oil that is very relaxing.
-Also eliminates dandruff effectively when used with coconut oil.
-It doesn’t have that sticky kind feeling unlike other massage oils.

Cons of Biotique Citronella Oil:
-Those who are accustomed with the belief that citronella oil is only used in repelling mosquitoes may feel odd to use it on skin as massage oil.
-Those who do not like citronella fragrance may not like it.
-Not available at all shops.
-May be irritating for people with sensitive skin, so they must do patch test before using it.

Rating: 3.75 out of 5.
Will I Repurchase?

It has lots of quantity left so I may not buy this again as I will get bored.
:thanks:

  1. Oh i remember this on with not very fond memories :chewnails …I used this about 4 years back when I was in college and was living in a hostel shared by 2 more friends… the room smelt of eucalyptus whenever I tried using it…so I used it as an insect repellent instead… 😉 also I was literally threatened by my roomies that they would disown me if I dint do away with this…. But nice to know it worked for you… :waytogo:
