This is the picture from their site, which shows all the 4 shades, apparently named as 01,02,03 and 04 .

I am going to review the shade 04.

Directions:
Dab onto specific areas and blend using our Lipstick/Concealer Brush.

Ingredients:
Marula Oil – Is a very effective moisturiser that also helps to condition the skin over time. Also provides essential fatty acids that help to repair the skin’s moisture barrier, thus helping to restore moisture, smoothness and suppleness.

Beeswax – Moisturises and helps to condition the skin. Acts as a barrier that helps to seal in moisture. Helps to keep product texture consistent, when used over time.

Vitamin E – Is an antioxidant that helps to soften , condition and protect the skin.

My Experience with The Body Shop Concealer Pencil

This is one of the disastrous experiences with TBS stuff that I am going to share. This season when I was checking out the products on sale, I saw the concealer pencils for around Rs. 300/350 and I was so irritated. I paid 600 bucks for this dud 2 years back and now they are selling the same, that too old stock for almost half the price. Not that I am against this, but they should at least check the manufacturing date before putting it on sale. Don’t know what has gotten into TBS these days.

Coming back to the product itself. It is a wooden pencil, but so very fat that sharpening it is really difficult. I was intending to check and get the specific sharpener from TBS itself, but I was already so disappointed with this after 2 to 3 applications, so I just let it go and since then its lying unused and blunt in my cupboard.

Concealer swatch

Here is the swatch. It is creamy and glides on smoothly on the hands, but while blending, it becomes sticky and a bit oily.

conceler partially blended

Blended with a single strong swipe of the hand.

concealer completely blended

Blended completely, it looks nice on hand, but somehow on my eyes, it looks very ashy. You can see a very obvious white cast when it is used on the eye area. The eye area being sensitive, it’s really difficult to blend even. It creases near the lower lash area and refuses to blend into the skin.

It’s not even good at hiding brown or black spots. It does lighten them a little bit, but if you see from a distance you can make out the white patch on the area of application. I’ve tried so many times, but never got that perfect finish with this. If you are thinking that maybe I am not able to blend it properly, then I am telling you I have tried to make it work so many times that I refuse to believe so. Back then, I was a novice and picked this up when the SA convinced me it is good.

For me, it’s a complete dud. So, I am not going to waste my and your own time in listing the pros and cons as I can’t think of a single good, nice thing about this. I reviewed this only and only because I want all of you to stay away from this even if you find it in sale, don’t fall into the trap.

My Rating:
0 out of 5

Will I Buy it Again:
No.

Final Word:
Stay Away!!!! You can use those 600 bucks on some nice skin care stuff they have.

  1. I am sooooooooooooo glad I left this thing on the TBS shelf itself when I went there last Saturday. WHEW! What an escape  . Even I thought it gave whitish cast to the skin, and that the product looked old. Besides all that, the SA there was a horrid stuck-up thing who seemed to think that TBS was there as a favour to the rest of us :waiting: .
Thanks for this great review and saving us from this product

    1. whoa….baal baal bachey. :tremble: really!!! 😯 which one did u visit??? till date i’ve not faced such a situation in TBS. they are quite customer friendly that ways :silly: :silly:

        1. @Crystal: Haaawww?! 😯 Even you went through that?! I thought I was the only one with that sort of and experience! I hate the SAs at the TBS at Forum…Total turn off! :spank: :yuck:

          1. You know, that was the first time I went into a Body Shop…and that too with great expectations after reading all the reviews here in IMBB. But once I went and saw the attitude of that female, I was so turned off from TBS products. :bash:
And I thought I was the problem!

  2. errr…. 0/5  is the shade right for your skin tone… I mean sometimes when the colors are not right they kinda tend to turn ashy. Most mac concealers in NC range looks ashy on my under eye areas and NW look fine.. so nt that nc range is bad bt the shades dnt work for me.. just wondering is same is the case with you ?:)

    1. this was the closest to my skin tone Rati. bt i tried it on my mum who is one tone lighter n has really strong pink undertones.bt it looked the same as on mine.n the same experience with my sis in law too who is a tone darker to me. i have done so much R&D with this one bt its completely useless. :((
Moreover i feel the texture is such that it wont blend in any type of skin nicely. it gives a plasic n fake feel to the skin actually :yikes: :yikes:

  3. Thanks for this review. I am a big buyer of Concealers (always looking for a backup for my MAC since I dont want my MAC to get over early 🙂 and this was one I had never looked into (I have tons of other TBS stuff that I love). Now I wont be buying it either.

    1. u r welcome Aruna. U know i feel TBS has no replacement as far as skin care stuff goes bt its equally terrible in their makeup things.i can never convince myself to spend on their makeup range. :nono: :nono: :nono: :nono:

      1. 🙂 i agree..makeup is very so so but their skincare products are really nice especially the seaweed iconic clay mask and seaweed toner.

  4. JYO…..i have the same one in same shade……….even shame problem wich you have……..hate this product………..i remember i brought this one around 500 bucks :hunterwali: :hunterwali:

  5. I had checked out this thing in my last visit to TBS..I found it a bit too oily and was afraid if would break me out..Thank god that I didn’t buy this and got the tea tree concealer. That one is working fine for me. And about the manufacturing dates, Gosh, I had the same problem. All the sticks that were kept on the shelf had only a few months left for expiry. When I asked the SA , and refused to buy those, she opened the cupboard underneath the shelves and took out fresh pieces with latest manufacturing dates…so I guess, they want to sell away the old stock first to unsuspecting buyers and be done with it…one has to be very careful about expiry dates and all, :nababana: no wonder then, that they sell 550 wala concealer at 350…it is not even worth an athanni.. :yuck: I think all these leading brands should have some Business ethics lectures for their management. Had faced the same problem with Elizabeth Arden once, SA was trying hard to convince me that the product will stay good for another year after expiry which was a few months away…I could have killed her then, but swore of EA for ever. :phoolan:

    1. i completely agree with u Agni. they should really do something about these kind of cheap acts. when the costumer is paying so much they don’t expect this and socho wht wud hv happened if u had ignored the mfg date :yikes: :yikes: :yikes:

  6. Hey Jyo….good review….it sounds just like the LA colors mystic concealer, which also looks ashy and pasted upon……….. :methinks: :methinks: :methinks: :methinks: :methinks: :methinks: :methinks:

    1. yes jomol. thts what i thought whn i read ur review yesterday. looks like we both r pro at picking up all the wrong things

  7. :nonono: :nonono: :nonono: :nonono: :yuck: :yuck: :yuck: :yuck:
Very bad,TBS! I had higher expectations of you! :hunterwali:
Thanks for the warning! 0/5 is just too sad. :sidefrown: And does it give that plastic type feel? 😐

    1. yes pragny. it gives that horrible feeling like u’ve put some plastic on ur skin. :hunterwali: :hunterwali: :hunterwali: :hunterwali: :hunterwali: :hunterwali: :ghost2: :ghost2: :ghost2:

  8. old dated products?? thats not expected from a brand like TBS 😯 😯
I therefore am quite hesitant to buy products on sale..somehow it usually the old stock that is kept on 50% or more off sale :pan: :pan:

    1. yes Pari. even i’ve noticed this particular trend in TBS. they keep old stuff in their sale items. :spank: :spank: :spank: :spank:

  9. Please tell me which Foundation brush is better, TBS or MAC. Need to pick up one this weekend. Don’t wanna try myself coz I too make a lotta mistakes and get fooled by the SAs. 😐 :waaa: and ya could anyone plz tell me about Bharat & Dorris products. New store in Pune, have heard a lot about them, but scared of trying. :struggle:

    1. hey shivangi. i hv no idea as i hvn’t used any of them. bt hv heard a lot of good things about them both. u can chk the reviews here. yeah even i saw a store here in infinity Mumbai. bt no idea abt this too

    2. I have tried both Shivangi and I prefer MAC. I feel MAC is much smoother and has a nice shine. I found MAC to have shades closest to my skin type – both Foundation and concealer.

  10. nice review thank….. saved 600 buks.i feel tbs also fails in most cosmetics range apart from there blushes i guess….. :thanks: jyo

    1. u know after this i hv got this stick phobia…. :tremble: :tremble: :tremble: is it better thn the pot one????in terms of blending??? ?:)

      1. nahhh … my colorbar one, i sharpen wid one old lakme sharpenser i have… it works welll…. 🙂
both the concealers r good… bt m reaching for the stick one more, just for the ease of application… whn i hav time n i do full makeup, i use pot one 🙂 simple!!!!!!

  11. this post is one of the main reasons we need this blog…hats off to Rati & Sanjeev! we dont need someone to tell us how great something is, but also someone to share how bad something was…a rounded one indeed!

great review Jyo…thanks for letting us know 🙂

  12. what a gr8 review….any undereye concealer without an orange or salmon tint looks ashy on me….def. am staying away from this one…and for 600, its not even cheap!

    1. thanks bhawana. thta was my intention while doing this review actually. to save all of u from this horrible so called concealer. O:)

  13. even i have this….DISASTROUS as you said…and i completely agree with the problems you stated..it is very difficult to blend it and it does make the applied area ashy…. 🙁
