ELF gel eyeliner

My Take on ELF Cream Eyeliner – Midnight:

This is another gel liner added to my recent collection of cream liners. There are some major hits in this range of ELF Cosmetics, but a few disappointments too.

Shade:

The shade is sort of navy blue in the box, but it applies very light on the lid. Yes! The shade here is a major letdown. A single swipe or application would result in a light watery kind of swatch on the eyes. I applied it twice to achieve some color, but still it was light for my liking. 😐

Also, the shade should apply as a navy blue but actually it looks more like a black blue, with black highlighting more than blue. :-/

Packaging:

The packaging looks very cute and by far it’s the most attractive among all the gel liners owned by me. I love the black square lid. The gel liner is provided with an applicator brush too, which is quite soft and sturdy and does the job of application well.  Actually, the cream liner is not stuck to the compartment it’s placed in, maybe I got a bad piece. If I keep it in an upside down position, then on opening the lid, the cream liner comes into my hand like a ball.

Texture:

I found it drying. Although right now, it is quite easy to pick and apply the liner using the brush, but I am pretty sure that I would be requiring something like Duraline to use this gel liner later.

Staying Power:

Awesome!!! Yes, this is one great quality of this gel liner that it will not budge even a bit once you apply it. It dries off to set super duper quick and once set, no matter of water or rubbing would fade it away. Actually, I had to rub the swatch that I had applied to show it here for the review, first using my hand wash and then using the baby oil to remove it completely. So, apply it and then forget about it till you yourself are going to remove it using a good makeup remover.

So summing up the pros and cons of the product for you all.

Pros of Elf Cream Eyeliner – Midnight:

• Awesome staying power.
• Totally waterproof and smudge proof.
• Can be safely used on the waterline too.
• Packaging looks cute and attractive.
• Very cheap if you do not have to bear the shipping.
• Some beautiful shades like teal, coffee, purple and olive green available which are quite a hit in the blog world.
• Comes with a brush which is quite soft and useful.

Cons of Elf Cream Eyeliner – Midnight:

• Shade is not blue, but it looks more like a black blue.
• The color does not show up properly in a single swipe and one needs at least 2-3 swipes to get a true color.
• The texture is a bit on the dry side and would dry up completely pretty soon.
• The packaging is not sturdy and the actual gel liner is not fixed into the compartment it resides in. 😛
• Availability of ELF products is again an issue.

Rating:

3/5 for the shade I own.

Do I Recommend/Will I Repurchase:

Not this shade, but yes, some other shade for sure because the price I would be paying is so less and there is no harm in trying.  I would recommend the same to other ladies that there are some awesome shades in this range and one can surely give it a try. :haanji:
